The participant reads aloud the sequence in order, and without any peeks or fishing, you are able to correctly "remember" what the target symbol is. Impressive, but explainable. So you up the ante.
Phase Two - Psychological Decoding
The process is repeated with a different sequence from their chosen card. But this time, the participant recites the sequence in ANY order. At lightning speed, you appear to mentally decode the jumbled sequence to once again correctly divulge the target symbol.
Phase Three - Mind Reading
For the third and final test, your participant can select ANY sequence from ANY row, on ANY side of ANY card, and they can read the sequence aloud in ANY order.
It would be impossible to remember or decode this much data. But once again, you are able to inexplicably reveal the target symbol the participant is thinking of!
In the eyes of your audience, there is no trace of a method because there are no patterns to spot and the sequences will be different every time. Card-Toon II Effect:
Here's a neat switch on the usual 'pick a card' routine that makes use of animation. Seen here is the sequel, CardToon2, to the original CardToon but the effect is essentially the same with different animations and some minor improvements on the original as far as handling is concerned.
The effect consists of asking the spectator for their favorite card.. which is chosen from a pack of face-up cards. After acquainting the spectator with the cute little 'stick-man' drawing on the back of the cards you begin to flip through the cards to reveal an animation in progress. The stick-man jumps into a cannon, shoots himself into the air, bounces off the edge of the card, and stands to hold up a mini-card (in the drawing) which also happens to be the very card chosen by the spectator!
Although I wasn't all that baffled by the method that makes this possible, I've found this trick to be a sure winner with the ladies! They just love this trick and every so often the men are totally confused by the ending since the ending is determined by the spectator, different every time performed.
What you'll need to do is spend some time getting used to handling the cards correctly so the ending works out as planned. There are some minor card moves involved but these are covered in the instructions very well. Just go about it slowly at first, practice it a bit and you'll be on your way.
